Welcome to the observation tower on Suur Munamägi!

We are delighted that you have chosen to visit Suur Munamägi. We want to ensure that your visit is as pleasant, safe and comfortable as possible. Please read the following guidelines to ensure that your time with us is enjoyable and worry-free!

Preparation for the visit:

  • The Suur Munamäe observation tower is open all year round. The 800-meter walking path from the parking lot to the tower, a quarter of which consists of stairs. The paths are maintained all year round, but we ask you to dress according to the weather conditions.
  • Our walkways run through the forest, where it can be cooler than in open areas. In windy weather, the top of the tower can also be colder than the surrounding area. We recommend dressing accordingly and wearing comfortable shoes to make your visit as comfortable as possible. There are benches along the walkway.
  • Visitors with walking difficulties can use the service road that leads to the observation tower, and there is a wheelchair lift if necessary. Next to the service road barrier, you will find the tower’s telephone number, which you can call to open the barrier for you.
  • For families with small children, we recommend using a baby carrier or baby blanket. For strollers or prams, it is recommended to use the service road. The walkway for guests has a few steps on the way up, which you will need to lift the stroller over if necessary.
  • It is possible to ride a bicycle up using the service road. It is necessary to ride next to the barrier and be attentive to the service transport.

Moving around the watchtower:

  • Ticket sales take place in the observation tower, please use the left door to enter. Payment can be made by card or cash.
  • You can reach the top of the tower either by elevator or by using stone stairs.
  • A metal staircase leads to the upper floors, which is limited by handrails.
  • Wheelchair users can take the elevator to the 9th floor, but the upper platform is not accessible by wheelchair.

Café and souvenirs:

  • There is a cafe open in the observation tower, where you can enjoy coffee drinks, cooling soft drinks, and ice cream.
  • Local souvenirs can be purchased at the tower ticket office.

Exhibition and information boards:

  • An exhibition is open in the tower, which introduces the history of the formation of Haanjamaa. This is a great opportunity to learn about the history and development of the region’s nature.
  • Information boards introducing nature and the region have been installed along the sidewalk, providing interesting information about nature and culture.

Children’s playground:

  • Next to the tower is a children’s playground where children can do tricks, spin on a mini carousel, and discover a musical ball. The playground is a great place for children to have fun and spend their free time.

Length of visit:

  • The average visit lasts about 45-60 minutes, which is the perfect amount of time to fully enjoy the observation tower and its surroundings.

Preserving nature:

  • The Suur Munamägi’s observation tower is located in the middle of beautiful nature. We ask visitors to be considerate of nature and keep the surroundings clean.
  • It is prohibited to throw objects, including snowflakes, pine cones, and stones, from the observation tower to prevent accidents and protect natural objects.
  • There are benches installed along the tour route where you can rest and enjoy the beauty of nature.
  • When exploring the forest, we ask you to respect nature. Do not break branches, do not make fires, or maliciously damage vegetation.
  • We ask that you put your trash in the trash can to ensure the cleanliness and protection of nature.

Pets and security:

  • Pets are welcome, but we ask that they be kept on a leash. Pets are only allowed in the tower if they are in a carrier bag. You can ask for water for your pet from the tower café.
  • Our goal is to ensure the safety of all visitors, therefore, intoxicated visitors are not allowed in the observation tower. Glass bottles or glasses are also not allowed in the tower.

Visit safety and comfort:

  • Our trail passes through the forest, so weather conditions may vary. Please plan your visit accordingly.
  • There are outdoor toilets next to the parking lot, which are a convenient stop for visitors before or after a walk.
  • There are additional restrooms for visitors at the back of the observation tower.
